Kalysta was cold. She was pretty sure she would never be warm again. Not while she was out here on her own, and she didn't know where 'out here' was. She hadn't even finished her grounding and here she was, lost, going to get grounded again when she got home - and it wasn't even her fault! She'd been doing what she was supposed to! Just resting in the territory, minding her own business, chewing on a stick! And then she smelled something strange and a body pounced on her.
At first Kal thought it was one of her siblings, except the stench was so wrong. And the teeth weren't biting in play - they'd ripped into her ear without warning. The pup had barely had time to react before jaws wrapped around the back of her neck. She shrieked and threw herself to the side and perhaps it was unexpected because somehow she managed to wriggle free and run. Only, she hadn't been paying attention and ended up out on the ice and then she couldn't get her bearings and now she didn't know where she was.
She didn't even know what time of day it was. With how often clouds obscured the sun, it could very well be noon or twilight and she wouldn't know; the light was always hazy. Ah well, time didn't exactly matter right now, did it? If she wanted to sit down and lick her cracked paws she could do so and nobody here could scold her for it.
As Kalysta settled the wind gusted and something unfamiliar wafted over her nose. She froze, ears pricked. It wasn't that same nasty scent her attacker had, but by now she'd learned 'unfamiliar' meant 'dangerous' and she wasn't keen on a repeat performance.
