Just a grumpy boy hanging out with Rosemary.

This was out of Draco’s realm of expertise.
Last year, his parents had elected to not have a litter and, while there had been another litter born in the Glade that year, the dragon (or witch, as Kiona affectionately called him) had kept his distance from the den. He couldn’t help but wonder if his parents were welcoming new Novas into the Stark legacy this year, in Draco’s absence. Would his mother replace him? His expression fell at the thought, and he cursed himself for it. He had been the one to leave, driven by this desire to see where his father—and grandfather—had come from, and the curiosity to see what was beyond the routine life he had created for himself in the Glade. His departure had been his choice; he did not get to feel jealous, or whatever this ugly feeling was that gnawed inside his chest.
Kiona had chosen to den further from the lake, in the depths of the woods that surrounded the body of water. It was a good decision, as the lake was a beacon for predators and other wolves; the new mother would be more protected hidden among the trees. It was only as he approached the den, his steps slow and quiet, when he realized where they were.
His father had been right—he would recognize the Surge when he saw it. The hum beneath his fur, wild and wordless, told him everything he needed to know: this was it. He blinked as he stopped a few metres away from Rosemary, his brows narrowing slightly as he took in their surroundings. But now was not the time to be excited about his discovery. The excitement could come later, when Kiona dismissed them.
He stayed where he was, maintaining the space between himself and Rosemary, his legs stiff and upright. His metallic gaze flitted over to his friend, immediately softening as he silently observed her.
